Michael C. Sulek 1936-2021

Mike was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Bridgeport, a son of the late Mike Sulek and Rose Malek Sulek.

Mike graduated in 1954 from St. Johns Central High School in Bellaire and proudly served in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the service, he graduated from drafting school and had a 38-year career as a draftsman with Republic Steel in Youngstown and Canton, from where he retired.

He was happily married to the love of his life, Margaret Orzolek Sulek, for the past 64 years. Mike had two sons, four grandsons and a granddaughter, all of whom he loved dearly. He was happiest spending time at the beach with his family and celebrating holidays together. Mike loved taking casino bus trips, playing cards, fishing with his son and playing with his grandchildren.

Mike enjoyed life, always had a positive outlook and found ways to make any activity fun for his family and friends. He was a hard worker, loved helping people and fixing things, and always kept treats on hand for the neighborhood dogs. He was a skilled craftsman, loved American Indian art and culture, and collecting things. He enjoyed building and restoring clocks, painting, and listening to music nearly every night.

Mike was a natural athlete and loved all types of competition. He excelled at many sports, but enjoyed golf the most. He loved trying out new golf clubs, working on his game, chipping in the backyard, competing in his senior golf league, and especially playing a round with his son and grandson whenever possible.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his sons, Michael W. (Margie) Sulek of South Haven, Miss. and Mark A. (Sherri) Sulek, of Delaware, Ohio; his sister, Kathleen Sulek of Wheeling, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Neil, Marisa, Samuel and Mark; an aunt, Anne Davis; and several nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, a grandson, Michael Sulek Jr.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Larry Roberts, are deceased.

Per Mike’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no public funeral or memorial service. One of Mike’s final wishes was that his family in kept in everyone’s hearts and prayers.
