YOUNGSTOWN — William Edward “Bill” Elias, 80, formerly of Austintown, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Antonine Village in North Jackson.
He was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Youngstown, to James and Lucille Elias, both of whom are deceased.
He was a 1959 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1964 graduate of Youngstown University, with a bachelor’s degree in education. He was commissioned through the ROTC program as an officer in the U.S. Army in 1964, where he served as a military police officer and was honorably discharged in 1966. While serving in the U.S. Army, he married the love of his life, the former Janet Kay Terlecki, June 26, 1965.

During his teaching career, he was loved by his students and highly respected and admired by his colleagues.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph Church. After retiring from teaching in 1995, he loved spending time reading, watching movies, playing tennis and pickleball, living in Florida during the winter months, spending time with his wife, family and friends, and making everyone laugh with a witty joke. He greatly enjoyed relaxing in his rocking chair on the back porch of his home.
