Charles T. Whippo 1954-2021

Charles was born Dec. 31, 1954, in Youngstown, son of the late Merrill and Eleanor Gardner Whippo.

He was employed with McCoy Excavating and previously worked for Dawn, Inc. for 25 years driving dump truck. He was a former member of the Teamsters Local No. 377 and operated his family’s laundromat in East Palestine for a number of years. When not working, he enjoyed classic cars, hunting and fishing, working in his yard, but most especially, being around his family and friends.

Chuck was a devoted husband who enjoyed his wife by his side until his last breath. He was a practical joker, always trying to make others laugh, which he succeeded at quite well. He was a “Mr. Fix-it,” a “where’s-my-screwdriver?” type of guy, always willing to lend a hand, even if it meant an extra trip to Home Depot to fix the “oops” that just occurred.

Lastly, he was a man of many words of wisdom, whether he had to Google it, or it came from the heart –“Mark it on your calendar,” or “you can do anything you put your mind to,” and “I’m always here for you,” and “I love you.”

He will be greatly missed by many, but never forgotten.

Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, together 50 years, Donna (Clark) Whippo; three daughters, Jennifer Whippo of New Middletown, Jessica (Chris Cox) Whippo of East Palestine and Amber Whippo of East Palestine; brother, Francis Thomas of Boardman; two sisters, Roseann (Ron) Hurt of Wooster, Christine Mueller of Boardman; and four grandchildren, Loyal, Damarion, Jordan and Mariska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Teresa Whippo; and a son, Charles D. Whippo in 2020.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, with interment to follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
