Donald D. Harig 1938-2021

Don was born in Youngstown, on April 4, 1938, to the late Howard H. and Dorothy Mae Gebhardt Harig. He entered into the Marine Corps Reserve and served from 1955 to 1961.

Don was also a carpenter by trade, belonging to the Youngstown Local 171 and the Shenango Valley Local 241. He built many homes and businesses in the Youngstown area and the Shenango Valley.

Don married his beloved wife, Nancy Lester Harig, Aug. 25, 1961; she preceded him in death July 25, 2019. In 1976, Don and Nancy bought their farm in Fairview Township and moved from Youngstown. He enjoyed making hay on his farm and growing corn.

Don was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer season, passing along his hunting skills to his sons, who in turn passed them onto their children. He was also able to fix nearly anything and always enjoyed the challenge.

He and his late wife were members of Coolspring Presbyterian Church.

Don is survived by his sons, Alan (Joanne) Harig of Canonsburg, Pa., David Harig of Plain City, Philip Harig of Stoneboro and Paul Harig of Sandy Lake, Pa.; grandchildren, Alexa, Amber, Ashley, Kyle, Drew, Kristen, Julie, Michelle and Alex; and great-grandchildren Ryder, Pyper, Xaver, Zoey, Lucas and Ethan.

In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Adrianne Marie Harig-Oliva; and sister, Carolyn McCorkle.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12. An 11 a.m. funeral service will follow visitation on Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City, Pa.
