Kathleen E. Thompson 1961-2021

She was born April 25, 1961, in Youngstown, to Thomas F. and Kathleen E. Turschak Shugart.

Kathleen, also known as “Shuggie,” moved to Florida as a young adult, where she met and later married the love of her life, James C. Thompson, on March 27, 1987, in Apopka, Fla.

She was of the Baptist Faith and loved Jesus and sought God for guidance in all aspects of life. Every single day of her life held purpose and intent. Kathleen thought of everyone around her as a friend or family member and put each of their needs before her own. She was the brightest, most generous, hilarious, selfless, imaginative, influential soul in the world. Kathleen impacted every human she met, from her lifelong childhood friends to cashiers at the convenience store. She effortlessly made everyone feel secure and cared for. Kathleen loved deeply and was deeply loved back by her friends, family, and everyone she encountered.

She is survived by her husband, James C. Thompson; daughters, Jessica and Jamie Thompson; father, Thomas F. Shugart (Candace); special aunt, Paulette St. James; siblings, Victoria Shugart, Ingrid Shugart, Ursula (Edward) Shugart, Shannon Shugart, Melissa (Robert) Sangster, Thomas F. Shugart IV, Tiffany (Phillip) Westbay and Rocky Kennedy; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Heritage Baptist Church, 6111 S Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson, OH 44451. Refreshments to follow.
