Jerry L. McGee 1943-2021
ORLANDO, Fla. — Jerry Lynn McGee, 77, born July 21, 1943, peacefully passed away in Orlando, Wednesday, March 31, 2021, surrounded by family.
Jerry, the son of Alva Theron and Verna McGee, grew up in New Lexington, Ohio and attended The Ohio State University on a golf scholarship. McGee’s professional career began in 1966, when he qualified for the PGA Tour, where he won four tournaments and was a proud member of the 1977 United States Ryder Cup Team. He joined the PGA Tour Champions upon turning 50 in 1993 and played through 2005.
Jerry and his wife, Jill, resided in East Palestine for 47 years before moving to Orlando, just a few weeks before his passing, to be with their children and grandchildren.
Jerry was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Youngstown State University. He was a tremendous supporter of the East Palestine Bulldogs sports programs and even helped coach high school basketball for a few years.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Don Holden (Joel); daughter, Roxane Love-McGee; son, Michael McGee (Annika Sorenstam); and daughter, Michelle McGee (Mark Riley); along with grandchildren, Dylan Love, Ava McGee, Will McGee and Liam Riley.
Calling hours for Jerry McGee will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021, at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland, OH 44514.
