Stephen L. Bledsoe 1944-2021

SALEM — Stephen Lynn Bledsoe, 76, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 18, 1944, in Huntington, W.Va., to his parents, the late Hawkins and Opal Fellure Bledsoe.

He married Molly Hamilton on July 12, 1969, sharing 44 years making a wonderful life together until her passing in 2014.

Stephen was a proud member of the Army, where he served two terms in Vietnam. He was also a member of the Lisbon Baptist Church in Lisbon. He was an employee of General Motors from the time that the plant opened until his retirement in 1999, with more than 32 years of employment. His main responsibility was loading the new cars onto the trains.

Stephen liked to watch the nightly news to keep up with all that was going on in the world. He was a fan of old-style country music. He was an outdoorsman at heart. Fishing and hiking were Stephen’s most enjoyable activities. Back in the day, Stephen enjoyed driving around with his brothers and seeing where the back roads would take them. Stephen had a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart that went along with it.

Stephen is survived by his son, Stephen (Crystal) Bledsoe of Alabama; four grandchildren, Morgan and Taylor Bledsoe, Vivien Murphy and Henry Hood; and brothers, John (Karen) Bledsoe of Charleston, W.Va., and David (Trujean) Bledsoe and Jim (Karen) Bledsoe, both of Fairmont, W.Va.

In addition to his wife and parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a grandson, Ralph Murphy, who passed away in 2016.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1617 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. The Salem Honor Guard will render military honors at the beginning of the services on Saturday.

A time of visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Stephen will be laid to rest Monday, April 12, 2021, in St. Joseph Cemetery, 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, OH 45238.
