Irene P. Anderson 1928-2021

WHEELING, W.Va. — Irene P. (Renee) Anderson passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, W.Va.

Renee was born May 5, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Janitor Lawrence.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Krause of Youngstown.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, John D.; son, Thomas (Suzanne) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; daughters, Lori (Joseph) Myers of Madison, Conn., and Terri (Dmitri) Cremo of Melcroft, Pa.; and son, Jack of Columbus. John and Renee were blessed with seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Renee met John at a youth dance in Youngstown in 1944 and married at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown, in 1949. Renee supported John’s engineering studies at the University of Cincinnati by working in the office of the vice-president.

She originated and chaired Teddy Bear Day at Oglebay’s Good Zoo for 12 years. She was also a committed member and chair of the Ohio Valley Medical Center Auxiliary and Wheeling Victorian Society.

Renee was an accomplished oil painter, and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, W.Va.

She will be remembered as the centerpiece of the family and will forever be their sunshine.

The Anderson family would like to thank the entire staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for the tremendous care, support and love they gave to Renee during her stay.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, W.Va., 304-232-2732.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, W.Va., with the Rev. Harold F. Dunn, M.S.A., as celebrant.

Internment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va.

Rosary devotions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
