Sophie Jane Arp 1926-2021
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sophie Jane Sybelnik Arp, 94, better known as Flipper to those who really knew her, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
Jane originated from Struthers, and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1962.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald G. Arp; parents, John and Anna Sybelnik; sisters, Alice Gartman and Josephine Kinkela; and brother, Frank Sybelnik.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Mike) Stoy, John (Debbie) Arp, Douglas Arp, Sharon Arp (Luis Paz) and Gus (Sidney) Arp; grandchildren, John Michael Arp, David Arp, Mario Paz, Alex Paz and Alisha Paz; great-grandchildren, Graysen Arp, Braeden Arp, William Arp, Alayna Arp and Olivia Arp; and siblings, Helen Bux and Pauline (Ted) Williamson.
Jane will always be remembered for her independence, quick wit, and “telling it like it is.” She was an excellent baker with her chocolate chip cookies, cakes, pies, Christmas fudge and kolache.
Interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021.
As Jane would say “Bye, Bye, Bye, Scram” for now.
