Carmel A. Perrico 1924-2021

YOUNGSTOWN — Carmel A. Perrico, 97, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 25, 2021, at O’Brien Memorial Nursing Home in Masury.

Born Feb. 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Ravella Simeone.

On Dec. 2, 1944, Carmel married her beloved husband, Frank Perrico Sr. He preceded her in death in 1995.

In the early years, Carmel worked for Niles Steel. Like her uncle before her, Carmel helped in the manufacturing of galvanized barrels that were used to transport oil during World War II.

Carmel was an active member of St. Brendan Church.

Carmel was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She was a member of the women’s card club. She enjoyed cooking and baking and will always be remembered for the numerous wedding cakes she had made. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carmel’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Carmel is survived by her two children, Joseph Perrico (Linda) of Hermitage, Pa. and Anita Mraz (Tom) of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her brother, Anthony Simeone of Toney, Ala.; her daughter-in-law, Rita Perrico; two sisters-in-law, Theda Simeone and Ann Simeone, eight grandchildren, David and Brian of Las Vegas, Nev., Nicholas of Cleveland, Anthony and Daniel of Chicago, Ill., Carla of Florida, and Matthew and Amanda, both of Hermitage, Pa.; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carmel was preceded in death by two sons, Frank Perrico Jr. and Michael Perrico; two brothers, Nick and Guy Simeone; one sister, Rose; and her granddaughter, Marisa Perrico.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 5, 2021, 4 to 7 p.m. at the John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Hermitage, Pa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Brendan Church, Youngstown, Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Simon Mino will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
