Teia Lynn Hooper-Johnson, 1957-2021

Teia was born on July 9, 1957, in Youngstown, a daughter of Bernice Hughes-Hooper and Ambrose Hooper.

Teia had a love for perfume, traveling and makeup. She enjoyed watching TV, shopping, fishing, reading her Bible, spending time with her family, friends and God.

Teia worked as an STNA for several years. Her motto she always stood by was to “Always live your life to the fullest with no regrets.”

Teia leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Bernice Hooper; her brother, Charles Hooper; her children, Tennille Johnson, Dwan (David) Moore, Gerald Johnson Jr., and Garrett (Laeh) Johnson; her childhood sweetheart and ex-husband, Gerald Johnson; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ambrose Hooper; her sister, Dwan Hooper- Tucker; her aunt, Marlene Hooper; and her uncle Dinky who she missed so much.

“Touched many lives, saved many people and always been a mom to many.”

A homegoing celebration in honor of Teia will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. at the center. All family and friends are welcome.
