Frances M. Shargo 1922-2020

She was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Wellsville, the daughter of Frank and Lucy Cerroni Nance, and raised by her stepfather, Michael Montemurro.

She was a 1939 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, and employed at General Electric Lamp in Warren during World War II and as a cafeteria worker for the Girard City School District for 12 years.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard and enjoyed cooking for her children.

Her husband, Sam J. Shargo Sr., whom she married July 18, 1953, died March 30, 1980.

She will be sadly missed by two sons, Michael Shargo of Niles and Sam J. Shargo Jr., with whom she made her home; and two sisters, Virginia Nance of Niles and Rosemary Gentile of Niles.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Montemurro and Peter Nance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held noon Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, with Monsignor John Zuraw officiating. Social distancing and facial coverings are mandatory.

Burial will be held in Girard City Cemetery.
