Jack D. Hunter 1931-2020

WEATHERSFIELD — Jack D. Hunter, 89, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at his residence.

Jack was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Warren, the son of John W. and Vida (Dennis) Hunter.

Jack retired in 1991 from Packard Electric, as a supervisor. He had previously worked for Grinnell and Republic Steel, both in Warren, and had been a volunteer firefighter for Weathersfield Township. He had served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.

Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed camping, flying airplanes and was a stock car driver.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirley A. Patterson Hunter, whom he married on April 30, 1955; his daughter, Cynde Hall; grandchildren, Jessica Hall, John Hall and Joe Merwin; and great-granddaughters, Kirsten Merwin and Gia Andujar.

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sons, John D. Hunter and John W Hunter; and his brother, Bruce Hunter.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from noon until the time of service.

Due to the current health conditions, face masks are required and please practice social distancing.

Jack will be laid to rest in Girard City Cemetery.
