Josephine A. Brizzi 1927-2020

CAMPBELL — In late afternoon Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, Josephine Ann Parise Brizzi, 93, quietly passed away, with her daughter, Deborah, by her side.

Josephine was born Oct. 14, 1927 in Youngstown, the daughter of Giuseppe and Erminia Tisone Parise. She was a 1946 graduate of East High School.

In July, 1948, she married Frank Brizzi and together they raised their two children, James and Deborah.

Josephine worked for Southern Bell Telephone in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and retired from Ohio Bell Telephone in 1991. She was a 23-year breast cancer survivor, reaching that milestone Oct. 4, 2020.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Youngstown.

Josephine was an excellent seamstress and in her teenage years worked at a tie factory in Youngstown making ties for the original Three Stooges. She made patriotic ties for many veterans throughout the years, and teddy bears for family and friends, both young and old. She loved flowers and her gardens were filled with a wide variety that she planted every year. She was a wonderful cook and magnificent baker. Everything she made was delicious perfection and no one left her home hungry. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and decorated her home inside and out for each one. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; grandson; great-grandson; sister, Rose (George); sister-in-law, Ginny (Rick Olson) Brizzi of Wilmington, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends whom she loved dearly; and her beautiful cat, Nikki.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James; sister, Mary Ann Patrick; brother, James Parise; and an infant sister, Grace.

Due to COVID-19, there were no calling hours. A celebration of life will be planned in 2021 in late spring / early summer, Josie’s favorite time of year.

“When the trees begin to bud, flowers start to bloom and you see a cardinal on a tree branch, smile and remember the love and life of a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. A life well lived, we cry because we miss her, we smile because we knew her love.”
