Jonathan Schreiber 1960-2020

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Jonathan Schreiber, 60, formerly of Canfield, died Oct. 15, 2020.

Jon was born April 13, 1960, in Youngstown, a son of the late Dr. Jack and Alice Schreiber. He graduated from Canfield High School in 1978 and earned a B.A. in communications from Ohio University in 1982. After graduation, Jon moved to Los Angeles to pursue his long-time goal of working in the movie industry, a dream sparked by a childhood trip to Los Angeles.

Jon found work in Hollywood, eventually joining the special effects company Boss Film Corporation. While at Boss, he helped create special effects for films such as Ghostbusters and The Boy who Could Fly. After leaving Boss, Jon worked on the movies Die Hard and Terminator. He also performed camera work for numerous music videos and commercials. He was very proud of his work in motion pictures and grateful that he made his childhood dream come true.

In later years, Jon became an avid photographer, selling his photos at craft fairs. All his life, he loved to fish. He was generous to a fault and loved to spend time with friends and family.

Jon is survived by his daughter, Alistair Casillas of Paris, France; her mother, Anjelica Casillas of Simi Valley, Calif.; brother, Mark, with whom he made his home; sister, Meredyth Pfeiffer and her husband, Jim of Janesville, Wis.; and brother, Jeff and his wife, Leslie, of Columbiana.

He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. He is sadly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends may pay their respects at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Rd. Youngstown, OH. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
