Harrietta Farmer 1930-2020

YOUNGSTOWN — Mrs. Harrietta King Farmer, 90, transitioned from this life Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Farmer was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of Jesse and Clifford Gardener King. She was a 1947 graduate of The Rayen School and was formerly employed with McKelvey’s department store for more than 20 years. In 2009, she retired, having served as a home health aide at Park Vista and private homes for individuals.

She was a former member of Bethel Church of God in Christ, Early Morning COGIC, Bibleland COGIC and Faith Temple COGIC. Through her memberships, she served as a church mother, missionary, Sunday school superintendent and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was also a member of Ohio Central Jurisdiction and served on their finance staff. Along with being an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles, she was an amazing cook and baker.

Mrs. Farmer leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Darlene Fason of Youngstown and William Randall Farmer of Liberty Township.; grandchildren, Irvin Caraway and Randy Farmer, Maurice J. Fason of Willoughby, Sheryl J.Fason of Green, LaTifa Farmer of Dayton, Brandi Farmer , Antone Jones, Dominic Riveria and Randy Reese; a special niece, Janice Beachum; her dearest great-grandsons, Deven Thomas and Jamelle Farmer; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 54 years, William Farmer; siblings, Jessie Lee Moreland, Mary Etta Miner, Johnnie Dallas Womack, Mildred Leverette, Margaret Brown, and Tommy, Jimmy, Gaines, Arthur, Fred, James Benjamin and Clyde King; and a grandson, Antonio Jones.

The family of Ms. Harrietta Farmer would like to express their sincere appreciation for the caregivers, Greenbriar Health Center, Omni Manor, Tyler, Eugene, Alexis, Brandy, Rhonda, Patriot Homecare, Hospice of the Valley, Lugenia Wilder, nurse, Dr. P.Kakkasseril and Jailynn Owens, great-niece. A homegoing celebration will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Interment will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.
