Richard L. Buzin 1946-2020

BOARDMAN — Richard Lawrence Buzin, 74, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of Lawrence and Julia Buzin.

Rich graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, where he was a standout athlete who excelled in basketball and football. Following graduation, he attended The Pennsylvania State University, where he had a standout college football career and was, subsequently, entered into the Penn State Football Hall of Fame.

Upon graduating from Penn State in 1968, he was drafted by the New York Giants. He later went on to play for the Los Angeles Rams and the Chicago Bears. Following his time in the National Football League, Rich embarked on a 30-year career in the financial sector.

Surviving are his son, Michael (Susan) of Downingtown, Pa.; daughter, Kristina Keacher (Donald) of Pingree Grove, Ill.; grandchildren, Katharine, Sarah and Jacob of Downingtown, Pa.; brother-in-law, William Johns of Boardman; and several nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Johns; and a brother, Walter.

There will be a private family service of remembrance.

Friends may call noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Lane Family Funeral Homes – Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman, OH 44512.

A private interment will follow.
