Cynthia M. Rohan Furtado 1953-2020
HENDERSON, Nev. — It is with great sadness that the family of Cynthia Marie Rohan Furtado announces her passing.
Cynthia Marie Furtado, 67, born June 30, 1953, in Youngstown, went home to be with our LORD and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, after her short battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her mother, Veronica (Urichich Rohan) Klus; sister, Jacqueline Rohan Gordon of Henderson; sister, Javern Rohan Carothers; and brother, Samuel Rohan of Costa Mesa, Calif.; brother, Joseph (Chip) Rohan of Cincinnati; brother, Gary (Andrea) Rohan of Anaheim, Calif.; brother, Dean (Margie) Rohan of Burbank, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving husband and sweetheart of 21 years, William H. Furtado of Orange, Calif.; father, Joseph J. Rohan, formerly from Youngstown; and stepfather, Dennis Klus, formerly from Lowellville.
Born and raised in Youngstown, Cynthia graduated in 1971 from East High School and Choffin Vocational Center for cosmetology. She moved to Queens, New York in 1971, where she worked as a cosmetologist. In 1977, she moved to Southern California, where she became a certified mixologist and worked in management in the hotel hospitality and bar industry. She moved to Henderson in May 2020.
Cynthia was an amazing mentor and inspired many family members and friends from around the world. She often said, “I love life and I live my life to the fullest.” Among her many loves was her love for her LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her greatest love was for her family. She was a fabulous dancer and she loved all types of music; her life was always filled with joy and laughter.
Cynthia was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many around the world and will truly be missed by all.
Due to COVID-19, a “Celebration of Life” and “Fabulous Party” will be held at a later date, when it is safe for all to attend.
