Rita L. Macek 1933-2020

Rita was the daughter of the late Paul and Mildred Rogers Schmidt; wife to Keith Macek; mother to Michael K. and Mark A. Macek; grandma to grandchildren Cassie and Michael; and sister to Robert Schmidt.

Born and educated in East Palestine, Ohio, and married Sept. 11, 1951, Rita was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Rita was a Jehovah’s Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah in Campbell, Ohio. Her family will attest to her cooking and baking skills.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Paul, Walter, Larry, Andy and Tom; sister, Barbara; and daughter-in-law, Cindy.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the immediate family held a private viewing at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

The Macek family wishes to send deepest appreciation to the entire staff at the Haven for the loving and respectful care that they showed toward Rita while she was entrusted to their care.
