Merle L. Davis 1931-2020

CANFIELD — Merle L. Davis, 89, formerly of Sharon, Pa., passed away Monday, June 22, 2020, at his residence, after an extended illness.

He was born April 26, 1931, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Elizabeth Leotty Davis and Robert Davis.

Merle was a 1949 graduate of Sharon High School. He worked at Sharon Steel Corp. as a foreman for 30 years, retiring in 1993 and was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Farrell, Pa.

He was a Navy veteran.

He was a member of Italian Home Club and Sons of Italy Club. Merle enjoyed bowling, bocce, dancing with his wife, Marion, vacationing with his family, attending his great-granddaughter’s bowling matches, and his great-grandson’s football and basketball games.

Merle is survived by his daughter, Lisa Timms of Canfield; sister, Peggy Wittiger of Hubbard; brothers, Thomas (Marion) Davis of Naples, Fla. and Clemente (Carol) Davis of Warren; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Timms of Springhill, Tenn., Heather (Tom) Tsarnas of Boardman and Stephanie Timms of Canfield; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Timms of Canfield and Logan Tsarnas of Boardman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion Palmer Davis, whom he married Aug. 24, 1961, and who passed away May 29, 2017; two sisters, Nancy McCullough and Diane Samoros; and a son-in-law, Rick Timms.

A funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, in the chapel at John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Hermitage, Pa., with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan officiating.

Friends and relatives may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the funeral home.

Entombment will be in America’s Cemetery.
