Dean P. Chengelis 1949-2020

Mr. Chengelis was born Nov. 5, 1949 in Youngstown, son of James and Ann Mastronestis Chengelis.

He was a 1968 graduate of Boardman High School, attended Ohio State University and was an MP in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Mr. Chengelis was owner operator of Chengelis Aviation and the Youngstown Executive Airport.

While living in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was General Manager of Stewart Pontiac Mazda. In Newport, RI, he was Executive Vice President of an auto industry consulting firm and he then accepted General Manager position at Saccucci LM Honda in Newport. Upon returning to Youngstown, he worked in a variety of management positions at local dealerships.

Dean enjoyed playing football, basketball and golf with his many friends over the past 45 years.

He leaves a sister, Jeanie Chengelis; his devoted companion of many years, Connie Matttson; three stepchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Johnson, Rick (Allison) Mattson and Andrew (Allie) Mattson; six grandchildren, Taylor and Ayden Johnson, Ella and Levi Mattson, and Nora and Charlotte Mattson.

Dean’s kind heart and larger than life personality will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private services will be held Tuesday and a memorial will be held at a later date.
