Andrew D. Luptak Jr., 1934-2020

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Andrew David “Dave” Luptak Jr., 85, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 18, 2020.

Dave was retired from decades in steel industry management and farming, two of his most avid interests. He was a 1952 graduate of Union Area High School and a member of First Baptist Church of New Castle.

He was a beloved husband of 62 years to the late Edith G. Summers Luptak; devoted father to Denise Campbell (Rick), David Luptak (Allison), Shelly Hudock and Steve Luptak; adored grandfather of Rick Campbell (Britni), Carrie Appleberry (Jake), Rob Hudock (Tori), Rachel Brink (Nolan), Andy, Augie, Artie, Amos and Annie Luptak and Malia, Austin and Meadow Luptak; and great-grandfather to Reese and Chase Campbell, Lucas, Benjamin and Francesca Hudock, Campbell Grace Appleberry and Vera Brink.

He is survived by his brother, Samuel Luptak (Roberta) of New Bedford, Pa.

Dave was predeceased by his father, Andrew David Sr.; his mother, Anna Luptak; and his sisters, Ruthie Luptak and Esther Williams (Edmond).

Dave’s wit, good humor and uncommon insight will be missed. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and telling story after story. He remained sharp and fully engaged to his last day.

The family thanks the administration and staff of Clen-Moore Senior Living “for their kindness and affection for Dad.”

Due to COVID-19 limitations, a celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date.

For those choosing to make donations in Dave’s honor, the family suggests a gift to the University of Pittsburgh for the Stan Marks Endowed Research Fund at hillmanresearch.upmc.edu/giving or mail to Development, 5150 Centre Ave., Ste. 1B, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Smith Funeral Home of New Wilmington, Pa.
