WOOSTER — Andrew Barna, 86, formerly of Austintown, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Coral, Pa., the second youngest of seven children to parents Michael and Anna Barna.

Andy loved to travel. He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and was able to see many parts of the world. His love of travel never stopped. He lived the majority of his life in Austintown, from 1966 until moving to Wooster in 2005. He would make frequent trips to California and Texas to see his children.

In 2013, Andy and wife, Kitty, moved to Minnesota to be closer to his son and his family. Andy loved old cars and going to car shows, sitting outside during the summer and talking to the neighbors. He was everyone’s grandpa. He loved to laugh and joke. He filled everyone’s hearts with love through his countless catch phrases and sayings.

He is survived by his loving children, Andrew Joseph Barna Sr. (Judy) and LuAnn Caras (James); grandchildren, Joseph Barna (Benita) and Gina Barna; great-grandchildren, Nealy, Levi and Logan; a younger brother, Joe (MaryLee); and sister-in-law, Joan Jenkins (JR).

Andy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Kitty, in 2015; his parents; and five brothers and sisters.

“See you later, Alligator.” (It was one of Andy’s favorite sayings.)

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Ind.

Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Homer City, Pa., was in charge of arrangements.
