Robert John Crouse, 1943-2020
NORTH LIMA — Robert John Crouse, 76, passed peacefully Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Robert, known as “Jack” to many, was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Youngstown, the son of Wilmer “Spike” and Margaret “Peg” Crouse. He was a 1961 graduate of North Lima High School.
In 1962, when offered the opportunity to purchase the family business from his father, Jack would become the owner and operator of Crouse Mill True Value in North Lima. This venture allowed him to continue to serve the community and also work with his wife and sons.
Jack enjoyed model railroading and was a member of Lionel Collectors Club of America and Train Collectors Club. He also was a member of Allen Lodge No. 276 F&AM in Columbiana and had been a member of the Beaver Township Fire Department for about 10 years.
Jack was a lifelong member of Mount Olivet United Church of Christ and also attended Good Hope Lutheran Church in support of his good friend, the Rev. Ralph Edwards.
Cherished memories of Jack will be carried on by his devoted wife of 45 years, Nancy Allen Crouse; his sons, Jason (Susan) Parker of Washington D.C. and John Crouse of North Lima; his five grandchildren, Hannah, JD, Heath, Carson and Jeffery Crouse; his little buddy, Hunter Cerny; his sister, Susan Queen of Gaston, S.C.; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Jack also leaves behind his donkeys, Jethro and Wilma, and his pony, Jeremy.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the Visiting Physicians Association, Grace Hospice and a special thank you to our angel nurse, Mindy Gagliano for her wonderful care and compassion shown to Jack and his family.
Friends and family may share memories of Jack 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at Mount Olivet Church, 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, where a 7 p.m. celebration of life service will be held, with the Rev. Ralph Edwards and the Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may be made in memory of Jack to Mount Olivet United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, Good Hope Lutheran Church of North Lima or to Grace Hospice of Boardman.
