James L. Anderson 1935-2020

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — James Lowell Anderson, 84, passed away the afternoon of Feb. 21, 2020, at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida.

Born March 14, 1935 in New Castle, James was the son of the late William “Pat” R. Anderson and Frances Garner Anderson-Downing.

He married his beloved wife, Marlene Lesnett Anderson Oct. 18, 1958. She survives at home.

Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Eastbrook High School. He was one of the owners of Anderson Bros. Tools for more than 50 years. He was a Mason – 32nd Degree Blue Lodge, a musician and avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially enjoying the Pens and Steelers. He also enjoyed traveling, boating and model airplanes, and was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, but what gave James the most joy in life was spending time with his family.

He attended the Eastbrook Methodist Church and the Shenango Christian Church.

Along with is his wife, Marlene, James is survived by one son, James “Jay” R. (Elizabeth) Anderson of New Castle; one daughter, Vivian (Michael) Maturo of New Castle; one brother, William “Bill” R. (Valorie) Anderson of New Castle; one sister, Betty Jane (Karol) Koscinski of Sharon; and four grandchildren, Jessica (John) Griffith of Volant, Kierston (Alex) Blenheim of Philadelphia, Kaitlyn Anderson of Erie and Tyler Anderson of Volant.

Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, George and Tom Anderson, and by a grandson, Ryan Maturo.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tues. Feb. 25, 2020, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wed. Feb. 26, 2020, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will take place 11 a.m. Wed. Feb. 26, 2020, at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Equels Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Briar Hill Cemetery.
