David L. Yeager 1935-2020

SILVER LAKE — David LeRoy Yeager, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, surrounded by family.

Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Youngstown, Dave lived in Cuyahoga Falls and Boardman.

He moved to Silver Lake in 1971. Dave graduated Boardman High in 1953, attended MIT, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown University in 1959.

He worked at Ohio Edison from 1957 until retiring in 1997.

Dave enjoyed golf, sailing and travel.

Dave was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls. He served as Stephen Minister, Trustee and on the Administrative Board. He was on advisory boards at Akron General Hospital, and Hiram College, and was an Advisor to Board of Trustees, Silver Lake Estates.

Dave volunteered with the American Cancer Society for nearly 50 years. Active at county, state and national levels, he was instrumental in bringing successful events to the Akron area including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Relay For Life and Cattle Baron’s Ball.

The family is grateful to the many friends who visited, sent cards, prayed for Dave, and offered other support during his illness. Many thanks are due to the staff of the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, who provided excellent care in Dave’s final days.

Preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy C. and Marjorie Yeager, Dave is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg”; children, David (Lisa), Karen (Richard) Yeager-Stiver and Ellen; granddaughter, Alissa; great-grandchildren, Marley and Miles Nasca; brother, LeRoy (Mary Sue); and sister, Joyce (Richard) Adair.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow.
