Alexander A. Nemeth 1941-2020

LOWELLVILLE — Alexander Attila Nemeth passed away Friday morning, Jan. 24, 2020, with his family with him at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Alexander was born April 29, 1941, in Kecskemet, Hungary, a son of Dr. Julius and Ildiko Murakozy Nemeth. His family moved to Germany and Bavaria, then to the United States in 1949.

Alex was a graduate of Chaney High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Alex was a social worker for the Mahoning County Human Services, retiring in 1996 after 30 years. He was CEO of Recreation Enterprises-Fun City U.S.A. in Coitsville. He also sold antiques for 30 years.

Alex was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, where he was a past elder and choir member. He was a member of the American Philatelic Society.

He loved his family, his children and grandchildren. Alex followed the Steelers, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. He loved classical music, fine foods and all ethnic foods. Alex was a beautiful landscape painter in watercolor, oils and acrylics. He was a patriot of the United States along with an entrepreneurial spirit and businessman.

Alex is survived by his wife, Diane Morse, whom he married Sept. 13, 1969; two sons, Dr. Alexander J.(Dr. Theresa) Nemeth of Chicago and Christopher C. (Kathy) Nemeth of Columbus; and a daughter, Alicia (Adam) Fusillo of Ravenna. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kaia, Audrey, Ava, Alexander, Dominic and Julian. He leaves a brother, Julius (Mary) Nemeth of Columbus; and three brothers-in-law, David (Pam)Morse of Texas, Guy (Stacey) Morse of New Bedford, Pa., and Steven Morse of Youngstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Edward Morse.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Hungarian Presbyterian Church. Calling hours for Alex will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Szabo and Sons Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hungarian Presbyterian Church.
