Sheila Allen 1955-2019

BROOKFIELD — Sheila Devereaux Allen, 64, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at Hospice House in Poland after a valiant battle with cancer. Her love for family and her firm faith in God sustained Sheila during her fight.

Sheila was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Girard, the daughter of the late Charles “Frank” and Dorothy Baptist Devereaux.

After graduating from Girard High School in 1973 she worked at various gas stations and bowling alley snack bars. She was also a DJ at WRRO, a local radio station, as “Sheila Woods.”

Because of her personality, Sheila excelled at being a waitress and did so for many years at Denny’s in Hubbard.

She was a member of Mercy In Action Ministries and was involved with the outreach team and feeding the hungry.

Sheila was known for her cooking and baking skills, and she did not let lack of sleep or illness stop her from what she loved doing. Sheila was an avid bowler for many years. She also enjoyed going to Seneca with her husband Steve. Sheila and Steve met in Atlantic City and made it their home before returning to the area.

Sheila leaves cherished memories to her husband of 28 years, Steven Allen, whom she married May 18, 1991; her daughter, Shannon (Benjamin) Ramirez; grandchildren Casshan David Wallace, Justin (Kristen) Wallace, Micah Pope and Khie’la Pope; brothers Charles F. “Chuck” (Sue) Devereaux III, Terry (Darilee) Devereaux and David “Duffy” (Denise) Devereaux; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held noon Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Mercy In Action Ministries Church, 3555 Tod Ave. NW Warren, OH 44485. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow at the Eagle’s Lodge, 26 W. Wilson Ave., Girard, OH 44420.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial contributions be made to Mercy in Action Ministries Church memorial fund.
