Joseph A. Ihnat, 1933-2019

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP — Joseph A. Ihnat, 86, passed away Dec. 1, 2019.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Campbell, to the late Andrew and Mary Ihnat. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joe loved and served his family, community and country well. After graduation from Youngstown State University, he went on to serve as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. He proudly retired from Jergens Inc. as vice president after 40-plus years of service, where he was an accomplished and dedicated executive.

He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

Joe was called a good man by all who knew him with a kind heart and quick wit, he will be remembered fondly.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Josephine Ihnat (nee Lupica); children Linda (John) Lambert, Cathie Winski, Greg (Chera) Ihnat and Lisa Ihnat-Durbin (Sean); grandchildren Brittany, Brooke, Briana, Carl, Cady, Cole, Cali, Gregory, Andrew, Katie and Luke; great-grandchildren Beckett, Bryce and Jaxon; siblings Nicholas (Agnes) Ihnat, John (Adele). Edward-deceased (Mary Ann) Ihnat and Andrew-deceased (Itha Riesen) Ihnat; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Cleveland visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.

Youngstown visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 463 Robinson Road, Campbell, OH 44405.

A funeral Mass will be held noon Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at the church, with the Rev. Kevin E. Marks officiating. Please meet at church.

Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Campbell.

Joseph’s family extends their gratitude to the Kemper House staff for the love and care they provided over the last few months.

Flowers will be accepted at Monreal Funeral Home, or donations in his honor can be made to Kemper House.
