Mary P. Manion, 1942-2019

BROOKFIELD — Mary Patricia “Patty” Manion, 77, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa. after a long illness.

Patty was born Feb. 9, 1942, to Margaret Curtin and Edward Patrick Manion Sr.

Patty was a 1960 graduate of Brookfield High School and graduated from Youngstown College (Youngstown State University) with a degree in elementary education. She taught elementary school for more than 40 years. She taught for several years at Christ Our King in Warren; the rest of her teaching career was spent teaching first grade at Brookfield Local School District. She was a member of the Brookfield Federation of Teachers.

Patty was an avid collector. She collected dolls, dishware, glassware and children’s books, but her most favorite collection was antique cookie jars.

She always kept up with current affairs and was always ready for a political discussion.

Patty is survived by her three sisters, Margaret Jackson of Hermitage, Pa., Jacqueline Hoelzle of Cordova, Tenn. and Bonnie Filipovich of Boardman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Elizabeth Gilmartin, Edward Patrick Manion and Catherine Welsh.

There will be no calling hours or public services.
