Dana L. Bailey 1970-2019

JERSEYVILLE, Ill. — Dana Lee Lavin Bailey, 48, passed away 4:08 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis.

She was born Oct. 10, 1970, in Medina, to Charles and Kimberly Rainjesck Lavin, and in her own words, “was blessed to get to begin to see the world from a young age,” growing up as part of a trucking family traveling throughout the country.

Eventually, the family settled back in Ohio, where she graduated with the class of 1988 from Jackson-Milton High School in North Jackson.

Dana worked in various career fields throughout her life, including her time spent as loan officer and branch manager for First Place Bank in Youngstown.

She married Dale Bailey on April 13, 2009, in a beachside ceremony in Florida. Shortly after, they relocated to Jerseyville, where they remained for the last 10 years.

While Dana’s life was full of many triumphs, it was not short of its difficulties and heartaches as well; however, her strong faith allowed her to persevere.

She enjoyed reading, sports and spending time outdoors, especially horseback riding. She had a genuine love for all the beauty that life and nature had to offer and was both a lover and an advocate for animals of all kinds. She had an undeniable sweet tooth, which she passed on to her true pride and joy, her daughters, Raini and Sydney. Her friends and family will remember her for her generous heart and for the unconditional love she shared with each and every one of them.

Surviving are her husband, Dale Bailey of Jerseyville; two daughters, Raini Vasko of Youngstown and Sydney Riley of Jerseyville; her mother and stepfather, Kimberly and Jeff Hunter of Berlin Center; her father and stepmother, Charles and Robin Lavin of Glenolden, Pa.; her grandmother, Hazel Kilpatrick of Glenolden, Pa.; two sisters and their spouses, Carlie and Michael Terlecky of New Middletown and Brooke and Hope Hunter of Salem; two brothers, Jesse Lavin of Youngstown and Cody Hunter of Berlin Center; her mother-in-law, Joann Bailey of Jerseyville; as well as a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Prema Bailey of Makanda.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and a brother, Charles “Chuckie” Lavin.

Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society.
