Robert C. Ritter, 1928-2019

YOUNGSTOWN–Robert C. Ritter, 91, passed away early Tuesday morning.

Robert was born July 29, 1928, in Youngstown, a son of Gottleib and Emma Nickel Ritter.

He was a graduate of The Rayen High School and a graduate from Youngstown State University with a degree in engineering.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951 to 1953.

He worked as an engineer in the steel industry and retired as a field inspector with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co.

He was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where he was a past choir member. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh chorus.

Robert loved to travel and visit his extended family in Germany, where he went on many trips.

Robert is survived by one brother, John “Jack” (Mardell) Ritter of Boardman. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alice Crane and Ruth Ibbett; and a half brother, Edward Ritter.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, with an 11 a.m. memorial service to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church or Masternick Memorial Health Center.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Szabo and Sons Funeral Home.
