Barbara M. Forte, 1935-2019

Barbara was born March 17, 1935, in Youngstown, the daughter of Jack and Mary Kent O’Brien.

She was a member of St. Rose Church, enjoyed playing bingo, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Barbara also loved her pets and baked the best chocolate pies in town.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mary Cunningham, John Forte and Jim Forte, all of Girard; daughter-in-law, Annette; sisters, Judy (Mike) Sheridan of McDonald and Monica Rothwell of McDonald; grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Cunningham, Errin (Woody) Williams, Alicia Cunningham and Eryk (Ashley) Forte; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Forte Sr., whom she married Sept. 11, 1954, and who died Sept. 16, 2011; and by her brother, Bill O’Brien.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the loving care given to Barbara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home.

The family will receive relatives and friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
