July 6, 11:20 a.m. -- Criminal damaging of a vehicle (tires slashed and paint damaged) reported at 4853 Westchester Drive.

10:18 a.m. -- Stanford W. Lewis, 57, 250 Charles Court, Newton Falls, was arrested on an Austintown warrant related to a May 20 case involving the purchase of $9,128.25 in tools and flooring from Home Depot, using bad checks.

July 5, 6:16 p.m. -- Theft of two bags of mulch reported at 5681 Depauw Ave.

July 4, 11:19 p.m. -- Leann D. White, 56, 281 Third St., Austintown, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct following a call to 1804 Celeste Circle regarding an active domestic situation.

11:28 a.m. -- Bullet hole found in the hood of a vehicle parked at 3621 Sandburg Drive.

1:27 a.m. -- Shawn J. Graham, 24, 2431 Kirk Road, Youngstown, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while impaired and having weapons while intoxicated, following a traffic stop on Oakwood Avenue.

July 2, 11:15 p.m. -- Justin L. Hanks, 46, 5602 Madrid Drive, Austintown, was arrested on charges of violation of a protection order and criminal damaging, following an unwanted person call to 5465 West Radio Road.

10:01 a.m. -- Ashley M. Patton, 39, 235 Dehoff Drive, Austintown, was arrested on a theft charge following a shoplifting call at Home Depot, 6100 Mahoning Ave.

July 1, 7:10 a.m. -- Attempted theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle reported at Super 8 Motel, 5280 Seventy-Six Drive.

June 30, 6:58 a.m. -- Ciera M. Buckner, 34, 412 Ferndale Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a charge of fictitious plates and was cited for driving under a suspended license following a call to Goodwill, 6009 Mahoning Ave., regarding a couple going through donations behind the building.

5:42 a.m. -- Theft of cigarettes reported at Sheetz, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

June 28, 9:32 p.m. -- Forced entry reported at 905 N. Turner Road and numerous items were taken.

11:01 a.m. -- Money was paid to a contractor and no work was completed at 6432 Meander Glen Drive.

10:48 a.m. -- Attempted theft of a catalytic converter and damage to an exhaust system reported at Sleep Inn, 5555 Patriot Blvd.

7:56 a.m. -- Theft of a yellow jackhammer reported at 633 Wilcox Road.

6:04 a.m. -- Theft of a welder and cables from a vehicle reported at Sleep Inn, 5555 Patriot Blvd.

June 27, 6:51 p.m. -- Tijuan D. Carter, 27, 4322 Webster Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing and domestic violence following a call to 1922 Burr Oaks Court regarding a man shooting at the residence.

2:36 p.m. -- Craig M. Mitchell, 51, 48 W. Heights Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a charge of theft following a shoplifting call at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

2:18 p.m. -- Theft of tattoo equipment reported at 1005 Compass West.

12:24 a.m. -- Daniel A. Nuth, 39, 2941 Vestal Road, Youngstown, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct following a call to the Austintown Plaza for a man lying near a light pole.

June 24, 4:03 p.m. -- Harvey Marlowe, 67, 954 Bonnie Brae Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a charge of theft following a shoplifting call at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

3:12 p.m. -- Nicole A. Echelberger, 20, 14 Kings Drive, Warren, was arrested on a charge of theft following a shoplifting call at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

2:35 p.m. -- Thomas E. Kearns, 56, 700 Buckeye St., Warren, was arrested on a charge of theft following a shoplifting call at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

12:41 p.m. -- A cashier was scammed out of $30 at BP, 3602 Mahoning Ave.

11:46 a.m. -- Theft of a catalytic converter reported at 3647 Kirk Road.

WHAT: Board of Education Meeting Thursday

PRESENT: Kim Smrek, Kathy Mock, Fred Marcum and Harold Porter

ABSENT: Don Sherwood

The board:

• Discussed during its work session that it would not look to enact policy allowing teachers to be armed. House Bill 99, which recently passed, allows districts to decide the matter;

• Approved minutes for meetings on May 12 and June 8;

• Approved financial reports for May 2022;

• Accepted $1,200 in donations;

• Approved summer camp staff;

• Approved a two-year contract with Myron Anderson as assistant director of strength and conditioning;

• Approved two memorandums of understanding between the Austintown Local School District, the Ohio Association of Public School Employees and Vision to Learn, a vision-screening provider;

• Approved the athletic student handbook for the 2022-23 school year;

• Approved meal prices for the 2022-23 school year. Breakfast will be $2 for all schools, or 30 cents for those on the reduced meal plan, and lunch will be $3.25 for Austintown Fitch High School, $3 for all other schools or 40 cents for those on the reduced meal plan.
