Three residents escape morning South Side fire

YOUNGSTOWN — All three people inside escaped a 1:38 a.m. house fire in the 800 block of East Lucius Avenue that caused about $30,000 damage to the home and its contents. One of the three, a 77-year-old man, was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment. YOUNGSTOWN — A man, 31, was shot to death Sunday evening in the 200 block of Benita Avenue on the North Side of the city. A suspect in the killing, Issac Chatman, 29, was at the scene when police arrived, according to a Youngstown police report released Monday morning. Chatman was arraigned on a murder charge Monday afternoon in Youngstown Municipal Court and will return for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. June 15.
