WARREN -- A Youngstown juvenile was arrested and taken to the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center following a Thursday night incident in which Warren police officers chased him and four other juveniles in a stolen car. All were captured.
The arrested juvenile was charged with felony failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, receiving stolen property and a citation for having no driver's license and stop sign violations after he admitted to stealing the car and then picking up his friends to drive them around.
A Warren police report states that the incident began just after midnight Thursday when Warren officers on patrol were notified by the city's Flock camera system that a stolen silver Hyundai passed by a camera on Comstock Avenue NW. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Youngstown.
Officers converged on the vehicle on Hall Street Northwest, and the vehicle speeded up and fled from officers with speeds reaching 60 mph. The vehicle did not stop at stop signs, the report states.
The vehicle entered Packard Park and continued around Packard Music Hall before entering the park again with multiple people in the car fleeing on foot in the park.
The five fleeing individuals were captured and taken to the Warren Department. The juvenile who was charged was taken to the juvenile justice center.
The parents of the other four juveniles were contacted to pick up the other juveniles.
