LIBERTY -- A Warren man faces a charge after being accused of pointing what appeared to be a firearm at another driver Wednesday afternoon.
Ludnir Wade, 43, pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated menacing in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler.
According to a police report, two Liberty officers were called to a Niles address for a road rage incident that had occurred on Tibbetts Wick Road and state Route 11, where a suspect pointed a firearm at the driver from their driver's side window.
The officer noted that the driver followed the suspect into Niles and called Trumbull County 911. The report states Niles police already had conducted a traffic stop and placed Wade into custody.
Upon speaking with Niles officers, the Liberty officer collected a replica BB gun with an orange tip on it, which is what officers had thought to be a firearm. The driver said Wade was driving west on Tibbetts Wick Road behind him, and he noticed Wade started to flip him off -- but he wasn't sure why.
The driver said Wade began to pass him, pointing what appeared to be a firearm at him out of the window, and the driver began following Wade and called 911, leading to Niles police to conduct a traffic stop.
Wade explained that he was frustrated with the other driver's driving and feared for his life, which led him to point the firearm at him.
Wade was released from the Trumbull County jail Thursday and is set to appear back in court Sept. 30, court records show.
