WARREN --The Trumbull County Planning Commission has recognized the Rev. John Michael L. Oliver, executive director of the African American Male Wellness Agency-Mahoning Valley as the recipient of its "Something Good Initiative," honoring his outstanding leadership, community service and dedication to improving health and wellness throughout the Mahoning Valley.
As executive director, Oliver has dedicated his leadership to improving health equity, expanding access to preventive healthcare and strengthening underserved communities through collaboration and service.
Under his leadership, the agency has expanded partnerships with healthcare providers, educational institutions, government agencies, businesses and faith-based organizations to provide free health screenings, wellness education, mentorship and critical support services to thousands of residents throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Oliver has led impactful initiatives including the annual Black Men's Wellness Day, Real Men Real Talk and the Mahoning Valley Fatherhood Coalition. Through these efforts, Oliver has helped promote preventive healthcare, mental wellness, fatherhood engagement and leadership development across the region.
"Rev. John-Michael Oliver's commitment to health, mentorship, families and community collaboration represents exactly what the Something Good Initiative was created to recognize," said Nicholas Coggins, the Trumbull County Planning Commission's assistant director.
"His servant leadership and dedication have created opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and communities throughout the Mahoning Valley," Coggins said.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Oliver has devoted more than 20 years to ministry, mentorship and community service. His work has empowered youth, strengthened families and fostered collaboration among nonprofit, public, private and faith-based organizations. Through his servant leadership and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others, he continues to make a lasting positive impact throughout the Mahoning Valley.
