Council:
• Received a letter from businessman Mike Kassem regarding a strategy to acquire state grant funding by leveraging modular housing.
• Heard monthly reports for June, July and August from the KO Consulting economic development firm on opportunities to secure economic support for Struthers.
• Approved appropriating no more than $1,000 to Willow Cremation Services for an indigent Struthers resident.
• Passed an ordinance to facilitate and establish guidelines for a facade grant program for the city of Struthers.
• Approved allowing Mayor Catherine Cercone Miller to collaborate with local communities to extend the Mahoning River Water Trail. The Trumbull County MetroParks board is the lead agency for the effort.
• Authorized the city auditor to transfer $5,000 to the senior citizens van fund.
• Approved a contract with Barbicas Construction Company to pave Creed Street, Lincoln Street, Grimm Heights Avenue and Eve Drive at a cost of $305,665.
• Approved creation of a fund for the Welcome Home Ohio state grant program.
• Dissolved the designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA) created during the July 12 Big Boy event.
• Approved an ordinance to redefine boundaries of all four city council wards.
• Approved resolution to accept the amounts and rates from the budget commission.
