A privately owned aluminum extrusion business in Canada added a Niles plant to its portfolio, BRT Extrusions announced this week in a letter to its customers.
BRT, 1818 N. Main St., is now part of Can Art Aluminum Extrusion.The company, with several plants in Ontario, has its headquarters in Mississauga, which is approximately 24 miles west of Toronto.
A purchase price was not disclosed for the facility and property, which rests on 27.94 acres. However, the Trumbull County Auditor's website shows a $27,470,000 transaction Aug. 26 between BRT Property Holdings LLC and FIP Master Funding LXXVIII LLC. The Ohio Secretary of State's website lists FIP as a foreign limited liability company that was registered May 11.
Ashley Fusco, BRT's sales and marketing director, said in Monday's correspondence that the "combined organization will have more than 1,000 employees, 15 extrusion presses, extensive value-added capabilities -- including wet paint, powder coating, fabrication and anodizing -- and will operate from 10 locations."
Fusco said that working together, the two businesses feature "strong manufacturing capabilities, longstanding customer relationships and a shared commitment to quality and operational excellence.
"The combined business creates a larger platform with expanded capabilities, a broader manufacturing footprint and additional opportunities for growth across North America."
The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber welcomed the announcement.
"We look forward to working with the company and BRT Extrusions Inc. BRT has long been an important part of the Valley's strong manufacturing base," said Guy Coviello, the chamber's president and CEO.
"We're excited to see what bringing these two manufacturers together can mean for the company, its employees and our region. The Regional Chamber looks forward to working with Can Art and BRT and supporting their continued success and growth in the Valley."
Founded in 2005, BRT serves the building and construction industries along with electrical, transportation and companies using extruded aluminum products.
Five years ago, Gallamar Group of Boca Raton, Florida, and Corbel Capital Partners of Los Angeles acquired the Niles operation.
According to its website, Can Art fashions standard and custom aluminum profiles. From a single-press operation, it expanded into a multi-plant, multi-press operation.
