BOARDMAN -- There are fewer narcotics on the township's streets today after police made a large bust Monday morning.
A news release states that the Boardman Township Police Department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at 86 Ferncliff Ave. The warrant is the result of an ongoing drug investigation, the release states.
Online court records had not been updated as of Monday afternoon to indicate the exact charges against Nakyia Parker, 50. However, Parker is on parole through the state of Ohio.
Online court and prison records show that Parker was released from Lorain Correctional Institution in October after serving a 10-year sentence for possession of heroin and having weapons while under disability, originally filed by Warren police in 2013. Court records show Parker was found guilty during a 2016 jury trial. He was in the first year of his three-year parole term.
The release states that the search yielded 330 grams of suspected methamphetamine; 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine; 36 grams of an unknown powder, suspected to be heroin, fentanyl or cocaine; $27,126 in U.S. currency; one Kahr Arms 9-mm pistol and ammunition; several drug paraphernalia items; and a money counter.
Parker was arrested at the house and remains in the Mahoning County jail. The release states that police expect additional criminal charges following laboratory testing of the unidentified drugs.
In 2001, he pleaded guilty to an amended charge of discharging a weapon into a habitation after an arrest for felonious assault for which he served five years. In 2006, he pleaded guilty to having weapons under disability and trafficking in cocaine and served three years.
In January 2010, he was sentenced to six months for heroin and cocaine possession, but did not immediately begin his sentence. He was booked again in March of that year, charged with trafficking in heroin, cocaine and marijuana and was sentenced to an additional six months in February 2011.
