Boardman antique store earns statewide recognition

BOARDMAN -- A longtime local destination for treasure hunters, collectors and weekend browsers is getting statewide attention.
Mr. Darby's Vintage & Antiques, 7386 Market St. across from the Southern Park Mall, has been named one of Ohio's top antique and vintage shopping destinations in a recent feature by the travel publication Ever After in the Woods.
The article, written by Iris Denby, highlighted "10 Surprisingly Affordable Vintage Shops in Ohio Perfect for a Weekend Road Trip" and praised stores where shoppers can browse at their own pace, find fair prices and leave with something more memorable than a typical retail purchase.
For owners Robert and Karen Neapolitan, the recognition is both a point of pride and a reflection of the community that has helped the business grow since opening in 2012.
"Out of the hundreds of antique malls and vintage destinations, it's an honor to be recognized," Robert Neapolitan said.
Denby's feature followed a statewide search that stretched from Cincinnati to Cleveland, Toledo to Youngstown, spotlighting places that offer the excitement of discovery and the charm of one-of-a-kind shopping. Mr. Darby's stood out as a Mahoning Valley stop "where visitors can spend hours exploring booths filled with antiques, collectibles, furniture, home decor, toys, jewelry, coins and vintage finds."
Mr. Darby's features more than 100 vendors and has grown into one of the area's largest antique and vintage stores. Its mix of curated booths, unusual pieces and rotating inventory gives shoppers a different experience with every visit.
"It's such an honor to be recognized with so many other great destinations in Ohio," Karen Neapolitan said.
Beyond shopping, the business also has made community involvement part of its mission. Mr. Darby's hosts two fundraising events each year to support people in need and hosts monthly summer trunk sales, giving residents an opportunity to sell items they no longer need while connecting with neighbors and local shoppers.
Ever After in the Woods, founded in 2024 by Ivy Langford and Brent Odom, has quickly grown into a national travel blog with more than 60 contributing writers across the United States. Its writers focus on standout destinations in restaurants, travel, shopping and local culture, according to its website.
Mr. Darby's Vintage & Antiques is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
