AUSTINTOWN -- Worship Without Walls will provide a workshop and music 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Austintown Township Park.
The free, non-denominational community worship event is designed to bring people together through faith, family, fellowship and music. Whether you attend church regularly, are searching for a church home, or simply want to spend an uplifting afternoon outdoors, all are welcome.
Jenah Shank, one of the event organizers, said outdoor summer worship gatherings have become increasingly popular throughout the region at venues such as Day Dream Farm Winery, Greene Eagle Winery and Lost Trail Winery. Shank said these events offer a way to worship God beyond the four walls of a church building.
"Being surrounded by nature reminds us of the beauty, power and creativity of our Creator while providing a peaceful atmosphere to worship, reflect and connect with others,'' she said.
Shank said Worship Without Walls is about building relationships, strengthening the community and creating an environment where people can experience God's love in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Unlike a traditional indoor service, children have room to play, families can relax together and everyone can enjoy an afternoon filled with inspirational music and Christian fellowship.
The afternoon will feature eight live performances by local musicians, beginning at 2 p.m. Those attending can bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. The Totally 80's Ice Cream Truck will be on site.
