WARREN -- Michael J. Robinson, senior investigator/supervisor of the delinquent real estate tax and collection department in the Trumbull County Treasurer's Office, has received the Trumbull County Planning Commission's "Something Good Initiative."
Robinson was honored for more than 37 years of dedicated public service and his lasting impact on Trumbull County.
Commission officials said throughout his career, Robinson has earned the respect of colleagues and residents alike through his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to helping taxpayers navigate difficult situations.
His work has focused not only on collecting delinquent taxes, but also on helping families remain in their homes whenever possible by providing guidance and opportunities to resolve tax obligations.
Robinson also played a pivotal role in the creation of the Trumbull County Land Bank, working alongside former Treasurer Sam Lamancusa to establish one of Ohio's earliest active county land banks following enabling legislation.
From 2010-13, he managed the Land Bank's operations through the DRETAC Department before its transition to the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership.
He also authored the Land Bank's original mission statement, helping establish the vision that continues to guide neighborhood stabilization and redevelopment efforts throughout the county today.
"Michael Robinson represents the very best of public service. His leadership, compassion, and commitment to serving the residents of Trumbull County have made a lasting difference," said Trumbull County Planning Commission Director Julie Green.
"Whether helping families remain in their homes or helping establish the Land Bank, his work has strengthened our communities for decades."
She said in addition to his professional accomplishments, Robinson is widely recognized as a mentor and trusted resource within county government. Colleagues describe him as the "go-to" person for questions involving delinquent taxes and credit him with strengthening both his department and the Treasurer's Office through his knowledge, leadership and willingness to help others succeed.
