WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners honored Nick Strimbu Inc. for its 100th anniversary of providing trucking services in Trumbull County during Wednesday's regular meeting.
Strimbu Sr., working with his brothers, began hauling building materials across the county and Ohio during a period of rapid industrial and residential growth.
Strimbu's twin sons, Nick and Tom, operated the business through the mid-1950s. A third generation of the family, Bill and Nick Strimbu III, then took control of the company.
Today, Harrison Strimbu, serving as vice president, and Spencer Strimbu, chief executive officer, continue the family legacy of service.
The commissioners also:
•Passed a resolution designating August as Child Support Awareness Month.
•Approved a professional engineering services agreement with The Mannik & Smith of Maumee for the load rating of seven bridges for the VAR-TRUMBULL Bridge load rating project in the amount of $43,150.
•Authorized paying Polytech Associates Inc., of Akron, up to $15,000 for providing Human Resource Management Consulting Services for the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers Department.
•Approved a collective bargaining agreement between the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services Child Support Enforcement Agency and AFSCME Local 3808.
