HUBBARD TOWNSHIP -- A Hubbard truck driver was killed when another semi struck him while he was outside his vehicle on Interstate 80 Thursday evening.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Warren Post is investigating the crash that happened just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday when a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck and trailer operated by Rashid Salah, 52, of Rosemount, Minnesota, was traveling eastbound in the right lane of I-80.
A 2005 Saab 9-3, operated by Randall Kriebel, 65, of Hubbard, was stopped on the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes. Kriebel was outside his vehicle in the right lane when he was struck by the Freightliner.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said.
Assisting agencies on scene included the Hubbard Township Police Department, the Trumbull County Coroner's Office, Eagle Joint Fire District fire and EMS, and C&C Towing.
