WHAT: Board of Education meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Walter Baber, Kristin Fox, Joseph Fuline, Robert Noble and Ron Shives
The board:
● Approved the financial report and investments for July.
● Approved an agreement between the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Struthers City School District to provide educational service to Leonard Kirtz School students for the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved the contract with Supplemental Educational Services Inc. for St. Nicholas, Holy Family, St. Rose Title I Services for the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved agreement between the Struthers Middle School and the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley to operate the United Way Care Closet.
● Approved the appointment of Joseph Fuline as delegate and Robert Noble as an alternative to the 2026 Ohio School Boards Association Annual Business Meeting.
● Approved the following district change funds for the 2026-27 school year: athletics $4,000, food service $150, and senior class $1,700.
● Approved the five-year financial forecast for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
● Approved the request from Carmen Lorubbio, Buildings and Grounds supervisor, for intermittent Family Medical Leave of Absence for the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved request from Brenda Squicquero, secretary at the middle school, for intermittent FMLA for the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved to pay Transportation Supervisor Fran Burrell the hourly rate of $21.90 for after-hours field trips.
● Approved the appointment of the following certificated staff members to the Resident Educator Program for the 2026-27 school year: first year -- mentors: Samantha George, Millie Manning, John "Jack" Carney, Elizabeth Pickens, Ashlee Senvisky and Rebecca Lambert; second year -- mentors: Kate Coppola, Donato Nerone, Alexis Dennison, Brian Garcar, Deena Dearborn, Kevin Dailey, Andrew Haines, Amy Thompson, Molly MacLochlan, Brigid Edwards-Sabol, Olivia McKenna and Jessica Zappia.
● Approved appointments of Response to Intervention Tutors at $22 per hour: Lori Hynes, Nan Angelilli, Diana Zetts, Bridgent Bowes, Tami Volpini and Jessica Hurdly.
