WHAT: Campbell Board of Education July 29 meeting
PRESENT: Gary Bednarik, Beth Donofrio, Judy Gozur, Tony Kelly and Tina Tsagaris
The board:
● Acknowledged the retirement of LaRona Gore, secretary; the resignation of Susan Viars, teacher for the Success by 6 program; and the resignation of Trevon Thomas as freshman boys basketball coach.
● Heard from marketing and sales manager Kayla Shaffer on branding for marketing and public relations for the CLWCC and CJCDC building.
● Heard from Superintendent Mathew Bowen, who shared a letter from the Cleveland Browns congratulating John Ryan as high school girls Flag Football Coach of the Week and a letter from Campbell Summer Fest organizations regarding donations for the basket raffle and parade registration.
● Approved financial reports, payment of bills, and Then and Now Certificates and Fiscal Year 2027 First Amended Certificate of Resources.
● Approved the designation of Huntington National Bank as depository for Campbell City School District's active, interim and inactive deposits for Aug. 30, 2026, to Aug. 29, 2027
● Approved the following donations: $1,000 from the Cleveland Browns to the high school girls flag football team; and $450 each from Steel City Contractors, Assassin Outdoors and attorney Brian J. Macala to the high school varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders.
● Approved the purchase of i-Ready Professional Learning implementation services and management, staff development and technical support from Curriculum Associates in the amount of $33,010.
● Approved purchase of HVAC filters for all district building systems for yearly replacement from Air Filter Systems LLC for $12,127.
● Approved an agreement with Sedgwick to participate in an Ohio Workers' Compensation Group Retrospective Rating Program in the amount of $1,185 for the 2027 policy year..
● Approved an agreement with GCL Education Services LLC to provide education services for a student of Campbell City Schools who will be attending the LEAP Program via The Village Network Residential Treatment Program at a rate of $240 per day effective the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved an agreement with the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio to act as allocator of Title III Federal Grant for English learners effective July 1 through June 30, 2027.
● Approved an agreement with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth for participation in the Early Childhood Education Grant Program, also known as the Ohio Preschool Program.
● Approved an agreement with the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments to purchase services for one personal attendant/student monitor at an hourly rate of $15 per hour, not to exceed 20 hours per week.
● Approved the appointment of Ronald Burkholder as a bus driver at $21.13 per hour.
● Approved the appointment of Rebecca Kuehm as a student monitor at $13.91 per hour.
● Approved a change of assignment for Anna Marie Horvath from substitute teacher to teacher for the 2026 Success by 6 Program.
● Approved the appointment of the following student workers for the 2026-27 school year at $11 per hour: Marzell Benton, Andrew Haus, Jonathan Hilson, Alex Kelley and Steven Moses.
● Approved the appointment of Amber Such-Pesa as athletic worker for the 2026-27 school year.
● Approved the appointment of Star McGaha as volunteer chaperone for the high school band.
● Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2026-27 school year: Cody Stoll, junior class adviser $2,931.18; Tyler Allen, middle school track coach, $5,443.62; John Childers, middle school assistant track coach, $4,606.14; Michael Lowery, varsity head track coach; $7,118.58; Paul Kish, varsity softball coach, $7,118.58; and Ken Tirpack, varsity baseball coach, $6,699.84.
