WHAT: Trumbull Career and Technical Center board meeting Aug. 13
The board:
•Heard from Superintendent Jason Gray that a bridge along Educational Highway will be worked on starting after Labor Day that will close the road for students and staff. Gray said buses and drivers will be rerouted to Research Highway with an earlier dismissal planned for bus riders at 1:45 p.m. to get students back to their schools.
•Heard from Gray the new manufacturing wing addition has been completed and is being used this school year. Officials will have a ribbon cutting for an invitation only event in September.
•Announced that the senior graduation ceremony will return to the Packard Music Hall in May 2027 after being at 7 17 Credit Union Field at Eastwood in Niles for the past few years. Officials said there have been some years where the weather did not cooperate for an outdoor event.
•Accepted the resignation of Jake Kakavros, intervention specialist, who accepted a position at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center in Niles.
•Approved a supplemental contract for Kris Doran as graphic/video production specialist at $4,000.
•Approved Andrew Rosenberger as a general substitute instructor at $17 per hour.
•Named Al Haberstroh of Southington as delegate and Danielle Scherer of Lakeview schools as alternate for the Ohio School Boards Association conference in Nov. 15-17.
•Heard from Director Paula Baco that as of mid-August, attendance is at 1,063 students with 90 in grades 9 and 10, but the total will change when students leave and new ones are enrolled.
