YOUNGSTOWN -- A man was shot in the leg at the intersection of Market Street and Indianola Avenue on the city's South Side on Saturday afternoon. He was listed in stable condition.
Gunfire also took place early Sunday morning on Dupont Street on the North Side and on Shehy Street on the East Side on Sunday night, but there were no injuries reported in those shootings, according to Youngstown police.
SATURDAY
Officers were called to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital at 4:36 p.m. Saturday for a shooting victim being dropped off at the hospital.
An officer spoke with a Mercy Health police officer who said the shooting was at Market Street at Indianola at 4:14 p.m. The victim was determined to be in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the upper leg.
A crime scene officer responded, as well as detective Sgt. Michael Lambert. A spent bullet shell casing was found in the area of Market Street and Indianola Avenue, the report states.
SUNDAY MORNING
At 12:48 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to Dupont Street on the North Side for a shooting. But when officers arrived, they learned from a man that a man had shot at him but the bullets missed.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim nearby. He said he attended a juvenile party on Robinwood Place that was advertised on Instagram. He said he and another man were approached by two men at the rear of the home.
The victim said he was sucker punched in the face. After that, a man he named pulled out a gun and shot two times toward him and then ran toward Robinwood and Dupont. The man who did shooting was wearing all black with a gray ski mask, the report states.
Officers created a "perimeter" to try to take the suspects into custody, but they were not located. Officers were eventually sent back to their normal parts of town since the men were not located.
Then a suspect, Isaiah Christian, 18, was seen walking behind a police cruiser and was taken into custody. He had a ski mask in his front right pocket, the report states. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
Christian was arraigned Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court on a charge of misdemeanor obstructing official business and was set for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 10.
Youngstown Municipal Court records show that Christian also was charged with felonious assault July 23 and also had an arraignment on that offense Monday. He returns to court at 9 a.m. Aug. 10 on that charge also, according to court documents.
SUNDAY NIGHT
The Sunday night gunfire was reported at 10:18 p.m. on Shehy Street on the East Side. A caller said two men were firing off guns. A person told police that a man in all black was seen running west on Shehy after the person heard gunfire.
Officers checked the area and saw a person flagging them down. He or she said he or she saw two males acting suspiciously while walking east on Shehy Street while wearing masks, a report states.
After the males went down the street, the person heard gunfire, so he jumped to the floor and laid down for "cover."
After the gunfire stopped, the person said he or she saw a male running east on Shehy. The person said he or she did not know who they were shooting at.
Officers saw a blue Toyota Camry heavily damaged by gunfire, "as if it were deliberately shot with several bullet holes throughout the passenger side," the report states.
Officers found seven bullet shell casings on the sidewalk and a bullet from the front passenger side of the car.
While officers were there, a person told police he or she hurt his or her head from diving to the floor. Ambulance personnel treated the person at the scene.
